The register of title is the definitive proof of ownership for registered land. It gives us the address of the property or description if it does not have an address, the names and addresses of the owners, details of any mortgages secured on the property, the title number, whether it is freehold or leasehold and depending on when it last changed ownership, often the price paid by the current owners. The title plan is based on the ordnance survey (OS) map and shows the approximate boundaries of the property, which will be edged in red. There may be other colouring on the plan representing such things as rights of way or parts of the property that are subject to covenants. These two documents are normally read together and both will be required in the event of a sale
